One Strike and You're Out Policy

The “One Strike and You’re Out” policy was instituted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and requires all public housing authorities or federally assisted housing providers to deny housing to individuals who have been evicted from public or federally subsidized housing because of drug-related criminal activity; individuals subject to lifetime registry under state registration programs for criminal conviction of a sex offense; individuals convicted of methamphetamine production on public housing premises; individuals currently abusing alcohol in a manner that interferes with the health, safety, or peaceful enjoyment of the premises by other residents; and individuals currently using illegal drugs.
