The Oregon Department of Corrections uses a track system for the screening and assessment of people who are incarcerated. If an individual is identified during intake as having substance abuse issues during the screening process, he or she is moved onto the substance abuse track for further assessment and programming decisions in that area. The individual then rejoins the general intake track after the specialized substance abuse assessments have been completed.
